Are Optical Wireless better than 802.11 Wireless Solutions?

Y1 has recently become a partner of LightPointe Optical Wireless Products.  They give our engineers the ability to easily and cost-effectively provision secure, high-speed building-to-building connections among separate buildings in enterprise campus environments. They interface directly with existing network infrastructure through fiber or copper-based cable to provide license-free, layer one transparent point-to-point connectivity. Optical wireless products replace low-bandwidth alternatives of leased lines, 802.11b or un-licensed radio frequency solutions without adding significant costs.
